When was the last time you jumped in to help with something without being asked? Or did something for somebody just because?
Everything moves fast today – so fast that we don’t always notice what’s going on around us. We are so focused on our own lives that it’s hard to remember to take a step back and instead think about how we could improve the lives of others.
Inspiration can strike at any moment. For us, inspiration came in the form of a 38-year-old woman, who for her birthday decided to do 38 random acts of kindness and blog about it. Her selfless actions inspired us to do the same.
On behalf of our clients, who we appreciate so much, we created the Bluewater Pay It Forward Project. The project is a way for us to give back to the community through random (or in some cases, organized) acts of kindness. Rather than the delivery of candy, popcorn, or a fruit basket, this Holiday season we decided to give the gift of inspiration, in hopes of starting a chain reaction of kindness.
Throughout the last few weeks, Bluewater has been out paying it forward to various individuals and organizations. Our employees teamed up and decided as a group how they wanted to participate. We asked that they take pictures and video–not for publicity, but for inspiration.
It didn’t take long for that inspiration to spread. On the day of the project’s completion, one of our teammates told a friend about it. Later that same evening she was at the grocery store checking out, and overheard that woman behind her had her credit card declined. She covered the cost of the woman’s groceries, only asking that she return the favor to someone else. That’s what I’m talking about.
Be kind. Be inspired. And pay it forward.
Happy Holidays from all of your friends at Bluewater!
P.S. Watch for more of our teams’ Pay It Forward projects on the blog this week and next!
