At some point, you’ve probably heard the phrase “Today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders.” For me, that phrase truly sums up how our Pay it Forward team was inspired to pay special attention to community children in need.
The Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery provides free, voluntary services — counseling, overnight child care, parent education resources, and much more — in an effort to end child abuse and neglect and create strong, healthy families. This fantastic organization supports families in crisis 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
We chose to donate items to the GCMN based off of the wish-list posted on their website. As a group, we looked to donate the most needed items. Our team had a lot of fun picking out different items that varied from clothes to food — and found more than just our passion for children shining through our efforts. My shoe addiction was evident as I showed extra excitement when picking out pairs of little sneakers, while Tiffany’s experience with four kids of her own came in handy as we picked out what she declared to be the best kind of infant formula!
Everyone at the GMCN received our donations very graciously, and their team was so appreciative. They even took the time to send us a handwritten thank you card and provided us with additional information on ways to volunteer in the future. Our team is so grateful to have been provided with the opportunity to Pay It Forward, and I know I speak for us all when I say we feel great about our choice to help these little leaders!
